HCS SJR 24 -- TERM LIMITS

SPONSOR:  Johnson (Farnen)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Miscellaneous Bills and Resolutions by a vote of 6 to 0.

This proposed constitutional amendment excludes from counting
toward years served in legislative service any service to fill
out the unexpired term of another person that is less than one
year in the House and less than two years in the Senate.  This
change would not apply to any current members.

FISCAL NOTE:  Cost to General Revenue Fund of $34,710 in FY 2003,
$0 in FY 2004, and $0 in FY 2005.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this would allow members who
served for less than half a term to serve for a more reasonable
time.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Johnson.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
